What a year 2015 brought! It was the Chinese New Year of the goat so all about endings and movement! For me it represented lots of decisions to be made, to move forward and end what didn’t serve me anymore, and did it prove that! I found myself at crossroads at all different levels, mentally, emotionally and physically. My body was screaming at me! The apartment I owned and managed as chairperson and its structural issues were eating at me, literally, my best-friend’s marriage was coming to an end and then there was the should I or shouldn’t I question; continue my PhD or go back to teaching full time and be free to do the things I love to do; travel, heal and be. So many decisions to be made and I knew I couldn't make them here in Melbourne. I needed to clear my mind and reconnect with me, and to do that I needed to change it up and travel into the unknown.
Without much planning and after a week of chaos I marched myself off to Flight Centre and organised my European adventure with Val. At first I was directly flying to Malta and then I listened to my inner self and realised I needed to see two other countries on this trip, Greece and Spain and a touch of Turkey. So the trip was set. I was to sail the islands of Greece, see the oldest library in Turkey, climb the monasteries in the skies, meet Gaudi and Granada as well as swim in the Mediterranean Sea around the islands of Malta.
In the final week to leave it was a mini whirlwind of marking uni papers for students, preparing documents to sell my property, packing and catching up with friends and family – it was a huge push to get sorted before I was to embark on a two month journey all on my own! The time finally came and ready as I could ever be I boarded my plane knowing that I was leaving ‘me’ behind and finding a better version of me. Was I ready? Honestly I couldn't tell you, when I boarded that plane, I just knew it was the right thing to do at that point in time and the rest was well, history.
My brain was on autopilot mode when I arrived in Dubai for my connecting flight to Athens. I found myself sitting in the middle of two lovely Greek ladies who befriended me. One was from Sydney, Australia and the other was from Johannesburg, South Africa, both returning back to Greece and both having recently lost their husbands. Sitting and hearing their stories was beautiful, one wanted me to stay with her and the other told me Greece is magical, Anna, Greece will find you a lover!! As I do I giggled and said sure I’ll have an Adonis please! Boarding that connecting flight I didn't realise what the next 10 days in Greece was going to bring into my life.
With the help of Vassals from Executivetaxi who met me at the airport and chauffeured me to my hotel in Athens, he instantly became my surrogate dad. Doting over me and making sure I wasn’t to go walking at night on my own and that if I needed anything to text or email him. Athens felt like home, I was safe! I instantaneously passed out, waking some 10hrs later stretched across my bed wrapped in my towel. Jetlag had got the better of me!
The Mediterranean breakfast of tomatoes, olives, eggs, feta and fruit were so delish. Yes, of course they had cereal and toast as well as bacon but I choose to embrace change. Before I knew it I was back on the road headed to the Port of Pireas to embark on my first ever cruise ship around the islands of Greece...

A little about me. Currently I'm a full time teacher and a part time reiki healer. Though one thing is for sure, I love travelling as it awakens my soul. So I thought I'd share how my two worlds collide here on my "blog" and all things spiritual.
